On September 16, the International Kyokushin Karate Tournament "Mas Oyama Memorial Cup 2012" organised by IKO Kyokushinkaikan, took place in Tokyo. More than 350 competitors from Japan, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Haiti, Rumania, Korea, USA, Ukraine, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China took part in this event. The official opening was done by Shihan Susumu Miyake. Chairmens of the organizing committee were Kuristina Oyama and Yoshikazu Suzuki. Sensei Nicholas Pettas was one of the special guests. Letters of congratulations from Shihan Katsuaki Sato and Shihan Takashi Azuma - one of first Champions of Japan in Karate Kyokushin were placed in the bulletin for competitors.
In men open category Michal Werner from Poland became the winner, for the second consecutive year. In the final fight Werner met with Yugo Toma from Japan and after the unanimous verdict of judges Pole won.

After the Memorial Cup, the Sayonara party took place in the famous IKO Honbu buliding in Ikebukuro with participation of all IKO Kyokushinkaikan leaders and invited guests who represented other international Kyokushin organizations. The custodian of master Masutatsu Oyama, his daughter Kuristina Oyama reminded about the ideals which Sosai used to teach and indicated the need for the rebirth of Kyokushin on the spiritual and philosophical level.
The will of the co-operation with different Kyokushin leaders around the world was showed again during this successful event. Shihans and Sensei expressed their will of help in realization of this ambitious plan.
Just like in the previous years, on the next day after the tournament, competitors and leaders visited the Mitsumine Mountain, gathered under the monument of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama and paid respect to him. The visit to Mitsumine Mt. ended with training under the waterfall.
