INTERNATIONAL GERMAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS FRANKFURT 2004

      On November 6th in Westerbachhalle (Frankfurt am Main) International German Open Championships were held. Tournament gathered 49 competitors from 9 countries. There was 250 spectators. Competition was held in 7 standard categories. Organiser of the championships was chief of Frankfurt Kyokushin sensei Slawomir Urbanczyk. Main judge was German Country Representative Christoph Fischer. EKKO supervisor was General Secretary Shihan Andre Drewniak.

7TH KYOKUSHIN FESTIVAL KYOTO 2004

     The 7th Kyokushin Festival was held on August 29th in Kyoto's Budo Center. The 6th All Japan Women and Senior Championships, The 3rd All Japan Kata Championships, The 5th All Japan Senior and The 6th All Japan Women Kata Championships as well as The 4th All Japan Students Championships were played simultaneously on 6 tatami courts. Tournament gathered 231 participants and was officially opened by Kancho Shokei Matsui.
     Three European karateka took part in this event: Jana Korinkova from Czech Republic finished 4th in women middleweight category and Andrzej Zacharski from Poland entered "best 6" in Kata. In the special One Match Fight Alejandro Navarro challenged Japanese ace - Kentaro Tanaka. Talented fighter from Spain again showed an excellent performance in each of the three round battle. One of his flashy kicks reached Tanaka's face, but it was not enough to get the point and after all judges decided of Tanaka's victory.

HONBU DOJO SUMMER CAMP SHIRAKO 2004

     On the last weekend of July, in Shirako (Chiba prefecture) Honbu Dojo Summer Camp 2004 was held. 
     According to tradition started by Sosai Oyama, the summer camp has been organised by the seaside, with participation of more than 100 karateka every year. The leading instructor was Kancho Shokei Matsui and assistant instructors were Shihan Isamu Fukuda, Shihan Koichi Yoshida, Sensei Gun Irisawa and Sensei Ryu Narushima
     The camp started from training with Kancho, where kihon, ido-geiko and a lots of strength exercises were covered. During the training as well as during his evening speech Kancho said a lot of precious advises based on his own experience. 
     Most of the classes were covered on the beach, where other activities like: sumo tournament, relay race and 12-km marathon run were also organised. The camp finished with Sayonara party, where students performed music and comic skits to entertain the instructors.

NORWEGIAN SUMMER CAMP OSLO 2004

     This year 7 instructors and 181 students including fighters, senior karateka and children took part in the camp. This is approximately 10% of the total number - 1500 Kyokushin Karate members in Norway.

     All the techniques and stances were covered during the training of kihon. Following with kata and the basic fighting training kumite and finished with self-defence including “DimMak” (Death Point striking). Some Ki training, massage course and special self-defence for women were covered too. On the last day the examination took place, in charge of which was Shihan Antonio Pinero.

    
     The Norwegian Summer Camp for the last 11 years has been organised in the south of Oslo by Shihan Lars Hogquist (5 dan). The guest instructor - Shihan Antonio Pinero (7 dan) is very much liked by the students and has been invited for many years.
