0n 11-12 May 2012 in Zaragoza (Spain) were held XXVI European Kyokushin Open Championships with a record number of 406 competitors from 22 countries including Japan. President od the European Kyokushin Federation - shihan Antonio Pinero made the official opening of the championships. Among the invited guests were: Vice President of Kyokushin World Federation shihan Hristo Traikov (Bulgaria), secretary of Kyokushin World Union Sergei Suvorov (Russia), shihan Seiji Kanamura 8 dan (USA), shihan Shigenori Sakamoto and shihan Noriyuki Tanaka (Japan), which presented during the opening ceremony a kata demonstration with music background.
Before the championships were held: the Board Meeting of European Kyokushin Federation (EKF), visit at the Governor Office, the General Meeting of the EKF and the International Judge Course, attended by more than 30 judges. It should be emphasized the beautiful design in a modern sports hall, including the two Tori gate, through which underwent the competitors to fight, and professional light control correlated with music and large screen. The organizer of the championships was the Spanish Kyokushin Federation headed by shihan Antonio Pinero and the direct organizer was Shihan Fernando Perez.
