THE 34TH EAST EUROPEAN SUMMER CAMP CRACOW 2007

   On July 18-22, The 34th East European Summer Camp was held in Cracow, Poland. The record number of 330 participants gathered to train together and. This year's special instructors were Shihan Katsuhito Gorai (IKO General Secretary, from New York) and Shihan Francisco Filho (1999 Karate World Champion and 2001 K-1 World Vice-Champion, from Brazil), who were invited by the organiser - Shihan Andre Drewniak (EKKO General Secretary, from Poland).
   Assisting instructors were: Sensei Wlodzimierz Roj, Sensei Eugeniusz Dadzibug, Sensei Krzysztof Borowiec and Sensei Roman Keska from Poland. Guest assistant and japanese language interpreter was Senpai Andrzej Zacharski from Tokyo.
   There were participants from 12 european countries: Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and Poland. On the last day of the camp the examination took place. The event finished with Sayonara Party where students performed music and comedic skits to entertain the instructors.
   Sensei Mizaras Algirdas from Lithuania, Sensei Norbert Racz from Slovakia, Sensei Mark Kubek from Austria and Sensei Slawomir Urbanczyk from Germany were the honorary guests.

THE 40TH JUBILEE WEST EUROPEAN SUMMER CAMP PAPENDAL 2007

   On July 9 - 13 in Papendal (Holland) The 40th Jubilee West European Summer Camp took place with participation of about 180 participants including 40 from Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Poland and Ukraine. The camp training program was prepared by Shihan Loek Hollander.Special guests were: Shihan Antonio Pinero (Spain), Shihan Andre Drewniak (Poland), Shihan Stuart Corrigal (Canada), Shihan Tsutomu Wakiuchi (Italy), Sensei Gillespie Brad (Canada) and Sensei Christoph Fisher (Germany). Trainings included kihon, kata, kumite and everyday practice of three Bo kata, Bassai dai kata and self-defense.
   Chairman of the Papendal Dutch National Sports Centre prepared the jubilee cake and special song was created and sang by a vocalist.
   Half of the candidates passed their black belt exams. The main photographer was Shihan A. Drewniak.

AUSTRIAN OPEN KARATE TOURNAMENT VIENNA 2007

   On June 17, Austrian Open Karate Tournament took place in Vienna. 180 participants from 5 countries (Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria) took part in this tournament. There were categories for juniors and adults, both in kata and kumite.
   Approximately 300 spectators gathered to watch this event, which was hosted and organized by the Austrian Kyokushinkai Karate Organization, conducted by Sensei Marek Kubek.



ALL AMERICAN OPEN KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS NEW YORK 2007

   On June 23 in New York's Manhattan College, The 2007 All American Open Karate Championships took place with participation of 116 fighters. The honorary guest of the championships was Kancho Shokei Matsui. Official opening was done by Shihan Seiji Isobe.
   Organiser of the championships was IKO Kyokushinkaikan International Department lead by Shihan Katsuhito Gorai.

24TH JAPAN WEIGHT CATEGORY CHAMPIONSHIPS OSAKA 2007

On June 9-10 The 24th All Japan Weight Category Championships were held in Furitsu Taikukan Hall in Osaka. Tournament which was organised by IKO Kyokushinkaikan gathered 280 competitors and couple thousands of spectators.
Main Judge was Kancho Shokei Matsui. Among the present were also: Shihan Yuzo Goda, Shihan Makoto Nakamura, Sensei Machida Kyosuke and Sensei Noro.
This championships was the last selection for the Japanese Team before this year's 9th World Open Karate Tournament, which will take place in Tokyo, on November 17-18. There were no foreign fighter participants, however two pretendents to the world champion title came to watch the event: Lechi Kurbanov (2005 World Super Heavyweight Vice Champion) and Artur Hovhanissian (2006 All Japan Vice Champion and 2005 Super Heavyweight European Champion).
